Network 1 Adds Eight St. Louis Cities to Its Municipal Wi-Fi Network

New Cities Offer 100 Square Miles of Additional Wireless Access

July 31, 2008: ST. LOUIS, Mo. --- St. Louis-based Network 1 Communications has announced it has signed up eight new cities in the St. Louis metro region to provide them with subscriber-based citywide wireless Internet service. That will bring the total number of cities in the region with citywide Network 1 agreements to 15.

The agreements with the eight new cities will add 100 square miles of wireless Internet access for Network 1 subscribers. Once the network is built out in each city, Network 1 subscribers will be able to obtain wireless Internet service in any of the 15 cities that are set up with Network 1 infrastructure.

"We are getting a significant number of inquiries for our service daily. People signing up with our network appreciate its strength and reliability," said Mark O'Neal, vice president of business development for Network 1. "St. Louis cities are seeing these results and are eager to provide their citizens with our affordable wireless Internet option."

Network 1 recently signed partnerships with the cities of Ballwin, Chesterfield, Olivette, Creve Coeur, Maryland Heights, Hazelwood, Glendale and Arnold. Those cities join those that are already committed, including Cottleville, Florissant, Crestwood, Kirkwood, O'Fallon, St. Paul and Dardenne Prairie. Network 1's citywide wireless network is the largest, privately owned and operated citywide Wi-Fi network in the United States. Other cities typically fund or subsidize their network in some way. Network 1, on the other hand, is not publicly financed. Instead, its business plan is based on subscribers.

Deployment of the Network 1 wireless service in each city will occur over the course of the next several months. Due to the increase in demand for this service, activation of individual accounts may vary. Activation schedules may also vary depending on the need for installing additional equipment.
